CLASS #1

Introduction to mindfulness and awareness of the body.

CLASS #2

Discussion of perception and how it shapes our relation to ourselves and the world. Deepen the Body Scan meditation practice.

CLASS #3

Unpack the negativity bias and explore mindful movement with gentle yoga. Strengthen formal meditation practice.

CLASS #4

Continuation of seated meditation practice, introduction to walking meditation and discussion around our physiologic response to stress.

 

 CLASS #5

Halfway point of course. Connect with each other about any changing habits or patterns around stress and practice Open Awareness Meditation.

CLASS #6

Mindful communication exercise and discussion. Formal seated meditation. Reflect on informal practice of mindfulness in daily life.

 

CLASS #7

Learn the RAIN practice to meet difficult circumstances in life and learn about different styles of distorted thinking.

VIRTUAL RETREAT

Immersive and integrative day of meditation practice strengthening all techniques and tools reviewed thus far. An opportunity for students to settle deeply with guidance and support.

CLASS #8

The closing of our course discuss intentions and support for a continued mindfulness meditation practice. Both an ending and a beginning.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course

This 8-week online course will help you master meditation and make it a powerful part of your daily routine. I host weekly virtual classes and lead a one-day retreat near the end of the program.

MINDFUL MOVEMENT

One aspect of this course is gentle yoga, or mindful movement. These movements can be completed from a chair, standing or on a cushioned mat.

What if I don't know how to meditate?

 

 

Whether you have a daily meditation practice already established or you've never tried to meditate before, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction is accessible to everyone. The 8-week course reviews the basics in the beginning, but the course is really what you make it. So if you practice meditation 30 minutes a day or 30 seconds a day, the techniques and skillsets this course helps you develop and deepen will make a profound difference in the way you show up in the world.

Jon Kabat-Zinn is the creator of the MBSR program and author of many books on mindfulness. While I will provide a course manual separate from his book describing MBSR in detail, I do recommend having a copy of Full Catastrophe Living to deepen your studies.
