BELIEF #3

We are all deserving of love and respect, especially from ourselves.

I'M ANDREA

Most would describe me as a wife, nurse, writer, athlete and cancer survivor. But in reality, I am so much more than that. And so are you.

Society may put us in boxes, but that doesn't mean we have to stay there. So let's break free from who we think we should be and start living the fulfilling life we deserve.

Join me on a journey of self-love, self-discovery, compassion and mindfulness.

MY STORY

I'm a Midwestern transplant now living in Seattle with my husband, our dog and a baby on the way. When I'm not working full-time as a nurse at the local children's hospital, you'll find me planting in the garden, reading a new book or training for my next triathlon.

I dabbled in meditation and yoga in high school and college, but it wasn't until I  moved abroad as a Peace Corps Volunteer that I really deepend my practice. Those two years in the Paraguayan pastizales solidified my love of nature and taught me how to be present and mindful in my everyday life.

Upon returning to the States, I went back to school to add a B.S. in Nursing to my B.A. in Professional Writing. With these tools in my pocket, I hit the road once again to make my home out in the Pacific Northwest. Here in Seattle I've found a robust mindfulness community and have continued my studies of meditation, yoga and even reiki.

And yet, it really wasn't until my breast cancer treatment that I learned just how supportive a regular meditation practice could be. The mental strength and optimistic realism I had on hand from my decade-long practice played a hugely important role in my recovery.

Thus here I am, dedicating myself to the service of others through mindfulness education. As the founder of Kind Mind Meditation, I intend to promote peace and reduce suffering through online Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction courses to anyone who could benefit from a little more acceptance and a little less stress.

“Life only unfolds in moments. The healing power of mindfulness lies in living each of those moments as fully as we can, accepting it as it is as we open to what comes next—in the next moment of now.”

“Each time you meet an old emotional pattern with presence, your awakening to truth can deepen. There’s less identification with the self in the story and more ability to rest in the awareness that is witnessing what’s happening. You become more able to abide in compassion, to remember and trust your true home. Rather than cycling repetitively through old conditioning, you are actually spiraling toward freedom.”
